JUBILEE BOAT VISIT - ST PAUL'S COLLEGE
Last week, some of the students who attended St Paul’s College whilst we continued with the clean up efforts to get our school up and running for school to resume after the flood, had the chance to visit the Chapel. Whilst on our visit the students participated in a Liturgy to commemorate the Jubilee Year and the ‘Jubilee Boat’ that was constructed by students at Newman Technical College. The boat was created to help schools, and parish communities with the Diocese of Lismore, to reflect on the Jubilee Year, with its inspiring theme: Pilgrims of Hope. Our students engaged thoughtfully in a prayer service, and were invited to pause, reflect, and consider how they can carry hope into the world – through kindness, courage, and faith.
We are very grateful to Mr Adam Clay for organising our students to be part of this event, and to all the staff and students at St Paul’s College for very generously sharing their spaces and school with us last week.

OUR NEW (INTERIM) PLAYGROUND SPACES
This week it was SO good to have all our wonderful students back at school. Everyone has done a great job adapting to the new changes around the school as we continue to rebuild and recover post flood. All our grassed areas are currently still fenced off and out of use, but our students have been enjoying some of the other areas that have been opened up for play; the ihub and adjoining courtyard, the Hall and verandah space, for music, dance and skipping, and the new area outside the hall where students can enjoy some chalk art on the concrete and visit our temporary canteen. Handball has been a very popular game this week and we congratulate our students for the resilience they have shown this week adapting to the changed spaces and activities on offer.
We also say a BIG thank you to everyone who has helped out school over the past two weeks as we managed the clean up and now rebuild of the spaces. It has been truly amazing to witness the team work, cooperation and flexibility of all St Joseph’s School staff, SES, contractors and community members in the recovery efforts of our beautiful school. We are so grateful and blessed to be part of such a fantastic school community.
UPCOMING SACRAMENTS
Reconciliation has had a new date set. It will now be held during school hours on Tuesday 17th June at 11.40am. Please respond via Compass or return the note to school to give permission for your child to make this Sacrament during school time.
Students in Year 4 and those recently baptised are also starting to prepare for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. Please see attached flyer. More information to follow.
N.B. If you would like to get your child’s garment embroidered, please fill out the attached form and send money into the office. We have a very short turnaround due to the disruption of the flood and subsequent school closures.
CUPCAKES FOR CANCER
Due to the recent flooding, our Cupcakes for Cancer fundraiser has been postponed until Wednesday 25th June, Week 9. If you’re able to bake and donate cupcakes, that would be wonderful. Please bring your cupcakes to the hall on the morning of the event. Don’t forget to label your container and leave your child’s name. This helps us return containers after the event, allow your child to help at the stall, and also go into the draw for a special Lucky Cook’s Prize!
Cupcakes will be on sale for $1 for small and $2 for large. Thank you for supporting this important cause—we can’t wait to see all the delicious cupcakes and support this very important fundraising event.
